A unique GEORGE OWEN pierced marriage vase. Royal Worcester porcelain.

I am proud to offer a unique GEORGE OWEN pierced marriage vase. Flowers painted by Harry Chair. Royal Worcester dated 1910. This vase was never meant to have been sold, as it was for his family. Incised BM 17-7-10. PERFECT CONDITION THROUGHOUT. This vase went through a Bonhams London sale 3rd November 2016, lot 400. Reserve £5,000. Estimate £5,000/7,000. Also, please see the Bonhams vase coming up for sale in May 2021 which although has more piercing than my vase, it does not have the lovely flowers on it. See link or below. https://thehotbid.com/2018/04/26/no-one-can-do-what-british-potter-george-owen-did-no-one-a-covered-vase-he-made-in-1913-could-sell-for-21000-at-bonhams/

Purely in my opinion, a lot of people would not have noticed that this was a unique piece, and that the name and marriage date was incised on it, because it is only mentioned right at the end of the description. See my photos catalogue entry. Also, I have the paperwork, which I will send to the winning bidder if the buyer wishes. Happy to. Only the top notch pieces from Royal Worcester bear this gold mark. See underside base.

The piercing has to be handled to show how very fine this really is. It is made from the finest delicate lightest porcelain and shines when held in the hand. My photo's really don't do this piece the justice it deserves. George Owen was an absolute master, and when you see how truly fine this really is, you can then appreciate what true skill it took to pierce this item. Owen would lock himself in his room and do these piercings a bit at a time. He would use damp cloths to wet the clay, and leave the item in a tin box until it was wet enough to start cutting into the clay. As the clay dried, his work had to be stopped, and then the whole process repeated again. This item is extremely rare and I have never seen another one like this. I consider it UNIQUE.
