SOLD sorry. UNIQUE stoneware dated jug 1839, probably from USA.Signed 'George Hadley'. Or Martin Bros.

SOLD sorry, but I have other interesting pottery pieces, and a Bartlam teabowl and saucer that I should list, and please ask at kandler24257@btinternet.com

A UNIQUE? Stoneware dated jug, probably from USA. Signed 'George? Hadley?. Dated September 1839. Martin Bros?.

THIS IS DEFINATELY A PERIOD PIECE. NOT A LATER COPY OR COMMEMORATIVE PIECE. It was made in 1839. This I can absolutely guarantee. However, I cannot find out where or who made it, and I cannot quite read the incised signature. I have asked everywhere among many specialists. Also, I have seen hundreds of Martin Bros and Doulton Lambeth pieces, but nothing quite like this. It is most BEUTIFULLY POTTED. Note those wonderful snakes. I think that has USA significance. It is INCREDIBLY HEAVY, and thickly potted. 9 1/2 pounds weight. It also seems very very similar to Martin Brothers pottery. I think it is most likely American or possibly a unique unmarked piece of Martin Brothers. I am willing to be proved wrong by someone with specialist knowledge of pottery. Help please?. There surely is someone out there, unless it is the only one in the world, although, I cannot believe that the person who was so skilled, would not have made other pieces.

LOVELY CONDITION. NO RESTORATION. Typical firing cracks for period. 10 1/2ins high by 8 1/2ins across.

ps. If it is indeed a one off Martin Bros jug, then it would be 'worth' thousands. There certainly is that typical character that we see in Martin Bros.
